Welcome to Intermountain Residential
Nestled amidst the stunning foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Intermountain Residential supports youth ages 4-13 upon admission. It includes cozy cottages that accommodate up to eight children in a nurturing home-like environment that seamlessly integrates daily living, clinical therapies, and individualized academic services to create optimal healing.
Our treatment encompasses personalized clinical assessments, specially tailored treatment plans, individual, group, and family therapies, medication management, and an accredited on-campus school. We also offer a diverse range of outdoor and community activities to improve a child’s self-esteem and get them back on track to be successful at home and school.
Our interdisciplinary team of professionals includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, licensed therapists, certified teachers, and support staff.
After we carefully assess each referred child to ensure clinical, medical, educational and financial capacity, we admit them to one of our cottages. The campus is in a serene and therapeutic setting with plenty of opportunities for running, jumping, hiking, playing, and living in the community. Every child has their own bedroom; it’s the perfect setup!
Our Approach and Model
We believe that challenging behaviors are a child’s way of expressing their needs in a unique manner.
Our caring staff build meaningful connections with the children to gain insight into their needs and family dynamics. We strive to enhance the child’s self-awareness and promote healthy expressions of emotions. Our approach focuses on working with the entire family to ensure long-lasting positive changes.
We are devoted to the individual needs of each child and the proven effectiveness of our Developmental Relational Approach. That means we use a developmental lens to view a child’s behavior and offer solutions that intentionally build connected relationships to help children and families heal. This model is the unifying approach to care, integrated experiences, and academic services we provide. Our team of expert clinicians apply this model to gain profound insights into the attachment and connection patterns of each child, ensuring personalized and effective care.
All clinicians have at least master’s level education and are professionally licensed or licensure candidates. They receive weekly individual and bi-weekly group supervision with our clinical team. They bring a wealth of diverse expertise, spanning child development, attachment theory, and trauma-informed approaches. We take special care in supporting our youth and families through advocacy, understanding military experience, bereavement support, and recreational therapy.
At Intermountain, we firmly believe in an integrated, holistic approach that harmoniously blends the clinical, academic, and family spheres, ensuring the well-being and progress of each and every child in our care.
Each cottage is supported by a dedicated therapist, with an office in that cottage. The therapists are team leaders for their house, providing valuable support to the direct-care staff and helping shape the routine and structure of the family-like setting. The therapist’s real-time guidance is a large part of how we nurture meaningful connections.
We welcome children and families of all faiths and traditions. We help support the spiritual and cultural development of a child if a family desires. With a dedicated chaplain, we provide opportunities for a child to participate in spiritual or cultural relevant experiences including music, movement, drama, crafts, activities, games and lessons. Other aspects could include service projects, field trips, community events, and cultural events in food, language and music. All activities are consistent with the overall treatment philosophy and standard of Intermountain.
Residential School
We believe learning should be fun, and a child must be in a safe emotional place to learn.
For many children who come to Intermountain, school has not been a rewarding experience socially or academically. Our Residential School offers a comfortable, stimulating environment in which to learn. Each classroom is staffed by a certified teacher and trained mental health support staff, all experienced in working with students with emotional challenges. A dedicated therapist is also present to support kids and families in our therapeutic school.
